Fuel Cost Calculator

How much does that drive really cost? Enter the distance, your fuel efficiency and the price to see the fuel cost — for one trip or many.

About this calculator

Fuel is one of the easiest driving costs to underestimate, especially for a regular commute. This calculator turns distance, efficiency and price into a clear cost per trip, and multiplies it across repeated journeys so you can see the weekly or monthly impact.

How it works

In metric, fuel used is distance divided by 100, multiplied by your L/100km figure. In imperial, it is distance divided by MPG. Multiply the fuel used by the price to get the cost per trip, then by the number of trips for the total.

Formula: litres = distance ÷ 100 × (L/100km) · cost = fuel used × price × trips

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my fuel efficiency?

Your car’s trip computer usually shows it, or check the manufacturer’s figures. Real-world use is often a little higher than the official number.

Can I calculate a round trip?

Yes — enter the total distance for the round trip, or use the "number of trips" field for repeated journeys.

Metric or imperial?

Both. The toggle switches between kilometres with L/100km and miles with MPG.

Does it work for a monthly commute?

Yes. Enter your one-way or round-trip distance and set the number of trips to your monthly total.
